What is a good protection against the devaluation of the dollar?

What currency is preferred to have their savings in the form, given that inflation could affect the value of their money, Euros, U.S. dollars, British pounds, Japanese yen, Hong Kong Dollars, Swiss Francs, or others, and why? Would it be wise to invest in a currency that has already failed (ie, Iceland – probably hit the bottom value-wise) that the coin would the gain in value more quickly if the dollar was devalued to be?
